Moving Right Along

Hello Friends!

I hope all is well. Here at Vitoria things have been quite busy we gain at least one new student almost each day which is exciting. We are going to be at the studio laying the floor and painting this week. Next week we will start moving things in so if you would like to help give us a call. We are still auditioning for the company so if you would like to schedule an audition call 614-506-6555. God’s magnificence is constantly being shown to us through the people involved in Vitoria.

Last week my business partner and I were looking for insurance companies for the dance school. Without thinking about it I said the name of the man that I get my car insurance from. Now I only met him once and didn’t even know if he provided insurance for dance studios but something in my heart said contact him. So I did and sure enough he provided insurance for dance studio’s. He is a Christian, he offered us a fantastic rate and prayed with us. How awesome is God!

A week and a half ago, after deciding that I was definitely going to rent the space we now have, I began looking for equipment for the studio. One day after I did my bible study something told me to look on craigslist. I don’t know how many of you are familiar with this site but it is a mix between ebay and your local newspaper. About 15 min. after being on the site I found a lady who was a dance studio owner that was retiring. So she was selling all the stuff at her dance studio. WOW! I found tons of stuff from costumes to chairs for our studio. She gave me great advice and offered to come and teach sometime. Blessings are just pouring down and I am thankful!

God is truly good. As this dance school and company grows it will not be because of me or our wonderful staff but it is because of God we are successful. The victory does not come from me but from God. God is at work in this company and dance school. He has mighty plans for Vitoria. No matter how big we get we can never take credit because no human can do what God does. So when our new facility is finished I hope you will come out and see what the Lord has done!

Imagine me

When I was younger I imagined God as this big being who wrote a big book, too big to read, and gave commandments. Thou shalt not do this and that, I thought God was no fun and as a Christian I had to be boring and obedient. I thought if I made a mistake God would write it down and hold it against me for the rest of my life. It wasn’t until my late teens that I realized God is a loving God, he is my father, and I can have a relationship with him.

I am naturally a perfectionist so I used to try to live a spotless life. I approached everything with caution, I never wanted to make a mistake, and I thought God would like me better if I went about my life this way. That way of living became boring for me so I went through this short period of wanting to just have fun which was not wise either. God is a fun God, being a Christian isn’t boring or condemning. In fact Jesus himself said he did not come to condemn the world . (John 3:17) God wants us to have fun but he wants us to have wisdom. The great thing about God is he realizes that we will have times where we fall short but that’s okay he still loves us. ( Rom. 3:22-24) We aren’t expected to be perfect.

God doesn’t see you as you are he sees you as you can be. Even at your worst God sees potential and beauty.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to imagine myself as you see me. Help me look past my mistakes and help me forget about perfection. Direct my steps forward Lord and incline my ear to your will so that I can walk in your will and not mine. I ask these things in the name of my Savior Jesus, Amen.I

Harvest Time

Hello,

Well, I have a lot of things to share about what is currently going on at Vitoria dance. Our dance school began classes this month and they are all doing wonderful thus far. We still are enrolling so check out the class schedule. The company will be meeting this week to line some performances up so please keep checking the web site so you don’t miss a performance! We are in the process of starting an after school program at Plain City Elementary which it is exciting to be able to bring the arts into the schools. Praise God! We have found a building and right now we are in the process of finalizing that. So as you can see God is doing amazing things!

As I was thinking about everything that is and has been happening here at Vitoria I thought about harvest time which is coming up. There are times of preparation in life and times of harvest. Let’s think about the process of planting crops you have to prepare the soil, plant the seeds, water them, and then harvest them. Here in Plain City that is easy to visualize because on every corner there is either a corn or soy bean field. It is good though because it reminds me each time I see the fields how much time and effort these farmers put into their crops. Though Vitoria is young many people have put a lot of time and effort into this company and school. Many people have been generous with their giving and now it is harvest time. Not only for the people who have helped but for everyone who is able to come.

That is what is good about God’s kingdom he appoints people as leaders and organizers so everyone can benefit. We know we reap what we sow and we are sowing good things, things that will further the kingdom of God. So, it’s harvest time! Check out the web site and learn more about our programs. We have tons of classes, bible studies, worship nights, movie nights and outings. The company will be performing around the central Ohio area like I mentioned before so keep checking back for performances. Our building should be open to the public in October so keep checking my blog for updates on the progress of the dance studio.

After the blessing what will you do?

You know God has blessed Vitoria immensely. I could not be more pleased with our progress. We have a building, we are blessed with new students each week and the company will be planning performances at the end of this week. Now God’s blessing did not happen overnight it took patience, faith, persistence and prayer. Even after God’s many blessings we still have a long way to go but I know God will provide.

It is easy for us to thank the Lord when blessings are just pouring in. When life is great we tell everyone how good God is but after the blessing when life is just okay it’s another story. We want to walk around looking all down, we want people to join our pity party but you know what that is the wrong attitude. Don’t just focus on the blessing but what you’re going to do after the blessing.

Let’s take the Israelites, when God was blessing them they just loved the Lord. When the Lord was right there they believed but when God wasn’t right there and He wasn’t pouring down blessings they turned away. They lost interest in God because they were focusing on the time of blessing rather than the time after the blessing. Now there is nothing wrong with focusing on the blessing but you must also think beyond the blessing. In Exodus 32:21-23, Moses has just come back to were the Israelites are after receiving the ten commandments from God to find the Israelites bowing down to a golden calf. When Moses asked Aaron what is going on Aaron tells Moses the people wanted to make a god because they didn’t know what happen to you. They didn’t see God working so they lost interest even though God had blessed them so much up to this point.

Friends, a lot of times we are like this. God blesses us and once the blessing has past we lose interest or become discouraged. God has blessed Vitoria a lot but there have been many times where there was nothing. It is okay to feel discouraged but don’t let discouragement take over your life. Take this time to praise God and thank him for what he has done and will do. Remember you already have the victory. When you accept Christ into your life you will face trials the difference is you can overcome them easier if you have faith and if you don’t let discouragement control you.

So after the blessing what will you do will you praise God and thank him for what he has done or will you complain about what he hasn’t done. Will you lose interest and turn to something else? Well, I encourage you to not give up after the time of blessing but encourage you to look up. Look up to the God who saves, look up to the God who blesses and look up to the God who has already given you the victory!
